The Edit: Elevated Halloween Decor
Seasonal styling ideas and pieces that look classy, not cheesy.
I love Halloween, and I love decorating for it, but I really dislike the garish orange, purple, and lime green that tends to proliferate the seasonal decor aisles. I prefer finding pieces that make my house feel like a curated Victorian gothic manor or something along those lines.
I gathered up some of my favorite spooky decor inspiration and favorite pieces that are available right now.
Antiques & Curiosities
I love combining antique items and curiosities (gems, taxidermy if you’re brave, moss, faux bones, etc.) to make a cool tableau. Putting things in glass cloches is a great way to keep it contained and feeling like some mad Victorian scientist’s office.

Taper Candles
There’s nothing I love more than a big collection of mismatched brass taper candle holders on my mantle. For Halloween, I love to get black or dark red taper candles, and hold a lighter to them so they get nice and drippy looking.
You can find dozens of mismatched candle holders like this at literally any thrift store, so definitely check there before ordering curated sets online!

Moths and Bats
I love the way these little paper or plastic moths and bats look scattered around a mantle or other styled area.

Some picks from around the internet that fit the vibe. Also, since apparently October 10th is basically Christmas as far as retail sites are concerned, almost all of this stuff is on mega sale!

Ooo, that cute lil ghostie garland would be such a fun craft! We did bats for a long time, and I was excited to switch it up this year with moths. I just love the way it brings a sense of "movement" to the spooky decorations.
